Dua Lipa is a Brit singer/songwriter who was born in London United Kingdom on August 22nd 1995. She decided to sign with Warner Bros Records in 2014 after she was a model and dropped her debut album, self-titled in 2017. The album peaked at the third spot on the U.K. albums chart and had eight singles, with the most notable being U.K. top ten hit single New Rules and Be the One I.D.G.A.F. Lipa's album, which has since been certified Platinum in various countries around the world was awarded the two Brit Awards (in 2018) for British female single artist and British Breakthrough Artist. Her parents are Kosovo Albanians Anesa Laxha and Dukagjin lipa. Her parents are of Bosnian origin by the maternal grandparents of her. Also, her ancestors come from Peja, which is a Kosovo town of Peja. Her grandparents were both historians and professors. Her brother is Gjin Lipa, and a younger sister Rina. Lipa was influenced musically by her father, who is also the lead musician and vocalist for the Kosovan group Oda. At home, her father played music by David Bowie Bob Dylan Radiohead Stereophonics The Police Stereophonics. Lipa began singing when she was five years old. When she was nine years old, Lipa started to sing in her school, the Sylvia Young Theater School. Lipa recorded the song If I Ain't Gotta You by Alicia Keys and Beautiful by Christina Aguilera to be uploaded on YouTube. Lipa was offered a recording contract from Warner Bros. Records in 2014. Her debut song New Love was released on August 15, 2015.
