She was a sports reporter for some of the most prestigious outlets in the country. The journalist spent more than a decade reporting on sports for The Washington Post, including football, tennis, and basketball. Nichols was awarded two Emmy Awards during her nine-year period at ESPN and was featured in the most watched shows such as NFL Countdown or SportsCenter, moved to ESPN in the year 2004. Reporters were also at the sidelines as well as a participant on Monday Night Football. Her next move was to CNN and Turner Sports. Unguarded: Rachel Nichols hosted her own show on CNN International. A record-breaking 1 billion viewers watched it worldwide. At the time, Nichols reported on TNT's NBA broadcasts which included regular season, playoffs as well as All-Star teams. Nichols has also been employed by TBS as a reporter who covers baseball and golf coverage. CBS broadcasted the Final Four. It was only the 2nd time in the company's 42 years that women were chosen from over 200 nominations.
